The Solute water filter eq., including De Longhi Combi BCO, Ecam, and Magnifica, improves water quality where relevant by reducing impurities in tap water such as chlorine, lead or copper, limescale, and other odor and taste substances. This, in turn, ensures the preservation of the perfect coffee aroma and a good cup of coffee!
Although the Solute water filter equivalent to the De Longhi Combi BCO, Ecam, and Magnifica, among others, reduces limescale in your appliance, limescale will always continue to form. After all, limescale is necessary to brew a good cup of coffee, so do not think that a water filter reduces limescale to zero. Therefore, we recommend descaling your coffee machine after approximately 350 to 400 brews.

Step 1: Remove the water reservoir. Discard the water and the old filter. Check if the reservoir is clean.
Step 2: Fill the reservoir with drinking water and hold the new filter upside down under water for half a minute to a minute! This allows air bubbles to escape from the water filter. (Holding the water filter upside down in water is crucial for optimal use of the water filter in your machine. You can also hold the water filter upside down in a bowl of water.)
Step 3: Attach the new filter to the water reservoir and place the reservoir back into the machine.
Step 4: Drain a few cups of water through the steam nozzle before using the machine again.
